So .. What is Dropshipping?

There are many forum posts and guides on what dropshipping is, but i plan to make this one as informative as possible and always stick to the point.

Case Study

Mrs Boom decides she wants to make some extra cash in her spare time, after reading about dropshipping she decides to give it a go, she find a dropshipper of clothing and looks at their products, without buying anything from them she lists their products on eBay and sits back and relax’s. After a day or so her first order comes in for a dress for £50 bought by Miss Jane… “But wait! she doesn’t have it!” … this is when Mrs Boom places the order with her dropshipper who has the item for £30, the dropshipper takes the £30 and ships the dress straight to Miss Jane … (Mrs Boom’s customer(, Mrs Boom keep the £20 and Miss Jane recieves the product. Mrs Boom can repeat this as many times as she needs.

A dropshipper is a company who holds stock and allows its members to sell there stock for them wherever they wish, once there member gets a order, the dropshipper send that product straight to the end customer allowing there members to take a cut.

So Why Dropship?

Dropshipping allows you to have a big portfolio of products for sale without actually having to own them products, you can hundreds and even thousands of products for sale that you don’t even have, this allows you never to have to commit yourself to buying huge amount of stock or invest huge amount of money.

So Why Not Dropship?

Although Dropshipping seems very easy it’s actually far from it, listing the products takes much of your time if you are going to do it properly you will also need to check daily to make sure the products you are selling are ones that your dropship company have in stock, but this still beats the huge investments you would need to make to actually hold the stock
